Idaho Gold Prospectors Association,
a Chapter of the Gold Prospectors Association of America

The Idaho Gold Prospectors Association, a Chapter of the Gold Prospectors Association of America, (IGPA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit club of small-scale prospectors and miners established in 1985 by prospectors wanting to have fun together with their families and friends, provide each other access to more claims to prospect and maybe find some gold along the way.

We have claims in the historic and gold-rich Boise Basin where the Grimes’ party found gold in 1862, starting the Idaho Gold Rush.  We also have claims at the historic ghost town, Silver City, Idaho.  Both areas provide opportunities to dredge, metal detect and use other methods to find gold and treasures.  Silver City is a great area for gem hunting as well.  Some members grant access to their claims.  The IGPA is always searching for new claims.

We are still a family-oriented club of small-scale prospectors and miners providing a fun, safe environment to get out and have fun looking for gold.  We are devoted to promoting and preserving our heritage through monthly outings, education, community events, social media, gatherings, and monthly meetings.  Our community involvement has included ongoing efforts that have helped the small-scale mining community and Idaho develop rules and regulations while building and strengthening relationships with local, state, and federal agencies.  Collaborating with schools, museums, businesses and other clubs and organizations, we teach history, demonstrate different techniques to find gold and use panning stations for people to find gold with their new skills.  A club for the beginner to the most experienced; our members are friendly and willing to help everyone learn to set up and use their equipment, including our club equipment that is available to members.  Comradery, friendship and fun while finding gold is a winning formula.

Come join us for the fun!  Gold Fever is contagious but has great side effects.

Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of the month at 7:00 pm at the Fraternal Order of Eagles; 7025 W Overland Rd. Boise, ID 83709 in the Overland Park Shopping Center.  Board meetings are on the fourth Thursday of the month at 6:30 pm at the same location as the general meetings.
